About Saturn Press
With feet planted on the rocky soil of Maine’s remote Swan’s Island, Jane Goodrich and Jim van Pernis established Saturn Press in 1986. Their distinctive designs and high-quality letterpress printing have attracted a large following. In 2024, father and dauther James and Deirdre Anderson became owners and now operate Saturn Press from the charming and historic town of Kent, Connecticut in the Litchfield Hills.
What is Letterpress?
Letterpress is a printing process that has been around since the middle ages. Once the standard for printing; metal or wood type is inked and pressed against paper. The technique produces an impression in the paper making it different from offset or digital printing. Each color is applied separately, some cards go through the press five or six times.
Letterpress is distinctive for its tactile quality and makes for a product guaranteed to impress.
